Senior Break Review

As second semester begins and students begin to sink back into routine, many seniors also begin to think about the future. For seniors, the two weeks after Christmas break is made up of job shadowing and senior trip, both valuable experiences that seniors will remember and keep in their minds as they begin to think about next year.

There was a variety of job shadowing placements within the senior class, from Managing Editors to kitchen designers, or for Joel Gerig (‘14), a General Surgeon. He says that job shadowing “was really helpful in thinking about my plans for the future.” The experience is so valuable because it gives seniors an opportunity to explore an actual career and to see what they might be interested in pursuing later in life.

The class of 2014 went to Chicago for a week to enjoy time together in the city. In addition to staying in a nice hotel downtown, other activities included a college basketball game, a Broadway show, a scavenger hunt around the city, ComedySportz club, and eating at many fantastic restaurants. The trip to Chicago was a great time for the class to have a large shared experience as the school year tips over the halfway point. After taking the train up, students split into groups and got used to finding their way around the city by themselves. The whole trip was a good opportunity for classmates to not only enjoy time with their close friends, but to spend time as a large group together.

Upon return to school, amidst many schedule changes due to extreme cold and weather conditions, seniors are getting back into the semester routine, but for many with future plans in the forefront of their minds. Seniors are no stranger to the famed question… “Plans for next year?” For some it may not seem real that it is their turn to answer this question, but for others it may seem like it hasn’t come quick enough. Whatever the case may be, the transition is unavoidable and a natural part of life. The Bethany senior class of 2014 will surely be ready to face next year, in all of its different forms for the different students with great memories of their Bethany experiences and times with classmates!
