Bethany High School Fall Play “The Nerd”

As fall is approaching, one event that people look forward to is Bethany’s High School fall play. Theater is one of Bethany’s many strengths and an extracurricular that allows for students to engage, learn, develop skills, and highlight their talents.

The Nerd Plot Overview:

Willum Cubbert talks often to his friends about the debt he owes Rick Steadman, a man he has never formally met before, but who made an earlier appearance, and saved his life after being seriously wounded in Vietnam a few years back. Willum has informed Rick in a letter and insists that as long as he is alive “he will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you.” Rick takes him up on this and Willum is thrilled that he shows up at his apartment for his 34th birthday. However, it is soon discovered that Rick is a hopeless “nerd” and the plot takes an unexpected twist.

This year’s cast members for “The Nerd” are Ethan Lapp (’16), Kyle Snyder (’16), Elijah Lora (’16), Leah Beachy (’17), Jonah Hochstetler (’18) Gabriella Klopfenstein (’18) and Gavin Rusel (’18). In collaboration with many other peers, including 35 student members in total who have made this production possible alongside with the help from producer Talashia Keim Yoder, director Jesse Bontrager (’13), assistant director Kelly Frey Martin (’08), and assistant producer Sara Klassen (’10).
