The Best Day After Valentine’s Day Ever

Katie’s Take: This year, the day after Valentines Day was more romantic than any Valentines Day I’ve ever had. Jesse and Caleb chose February 15 as the day they would declare their love for me. All day I was showered with gifts and tokens of their love and admiration. From chocolate, to romantic poetry, to being picked up for school the day was full of over-the-top gestures of their true love for me. Many of the students and teachers were wholly confused as to what was going on, so here are the perspectives of Jesse and Caleb throughout the day as they showed off their romantic sides to try and win me over.

Jesse’s Take: Caleb’s gifts and overall performance throughout the day paled in comparison to mine. I began my gorgeous Friday morning by brewing some fresh hot chocolate for my dear Katie. A quick trip to the store was made for flowers, which are surprisingly difficult to find on the day after Valentine’s Day. I settled for Tic-Tacs instead.

I drove my darling to school, filling the car with pleasant conversation along the way. Angelic music filled her ears as I requested that the concert choir join me in singing “Happy Day After Valentine’s Day” during first period. I could tell she was beginning to love me with all her heart.

My plans to visit with her during third period Spanish were somewhat ruined. I tapped on the closed window of her classroom for several minutes, before giving up on getting her to notice me.

But the love between my gal-pal and I was not at all at a standstill. I took it as a challenge to really bring on the heat during fourth period, our only mutual class. Josh Helmuth joined me in the Sightline office with a guitar and some swag as we serenaded my baby with “Your Guardian Angel” by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. By the end, the tears of joy upon her beautiful face were nearly too much to handle. I ended the period by giving her some quality chocolates, which she adored.

Lunch was another key moment in our day of love. After my honey boo picked up her lunch, she joined me in the senior lobby for a romantic picnic. It was there that she really fell for me. We did some intense flirting back and forth. Food was shared between us. There may have been a kiss or two; I cannot disclose this information.

I walked my Katie baby back to her locker. Her gaze immediately betrayed her secret feelings and longing for my heart. After my drawing class, I presented her with a gorgeous portrait of herself. Not to toot my own horn, but it was my best work of art to date. The epitome of beauty. It took me, like, three hours to finish the shading on her upper lip.

The day ended with a declaration of love in the senior hallway. My foxy lady held my hand as I held back tears of joy. Unfortunately, my nemesis, Caleb Morris, was also present. However, it is clear that my efforts throughout the day were far superior to his.

In closing, I would like to write a special message to my sugar pie honey bunch, Katie Hurst: Baby, you are beautiful. Your smile makes the magnificence of a morning sunrise envious. Your laugh reminds me of the splendor of springtime. Though I have given you many gifts, the greatest is that which cannot be touched, only felt: Love.

Caleb’s Take: The morning started with a flaw in Jesse’s plan. After picking Miss Beautiful up from her house to take her to school, they stopped by my house. Jesse was hoping to gloat about having my baby in the car with him but, instead, that is when she started to fall for me. I caught a ride with them and we shared laughs and flirtatious giggles for the remainder of the trip.

Once we got to school, I had a lot of work to do. It began with a trip to the office to get my love note to Her Beauty into the morning announcements, where everyone would know my love for her. This was not an easy task. Robin needed a “note from a teacher.” Anyways, push came to shove and let’s just say that Robin acquiesced to the deed.

Fourth period was the busiest gift-giving/romanticizing time of the day. We both have Sightline that period and I brought her a computer to work on. Pretty ordinary, right? Not so. There was a card on the inside with a brief poem that read:

Roses are red,
Violets are Blue.
Cats are cute
and so are you!

Incredible, I know. Also, when Miss Amazing opened the laptop, a message read “Open the Disk Drive.” What was in there? A nice little mixtape of romantic songs. But no, the period did not end there. I recited what is widely known as the best of the Shakespearean sonnets: Sonnet CIX. I had to pause in the middle to wipe the tears from the eyes of the lady of my life.

Throughout the day, my sweetie was treated with peppermint patties with little love notes written onto them. Peppermint patties are – if you didn’t know – one of my love’s favorite candies.

Fifth period, a study hall for both of us, was just a time for the two of us to have some quality talking time. I really enjoyed having deep conversation with my favorite person. No shenanigans or drama was needed here. Just two lovebirds and the gift of talk.

Just when my honey thought the gifts were over, she opened her locker to find Date Night: The best Valentine’s Day movie in 21st century.

Because eloquent metaphors simply can’t describe the abundance of love which my love and I share, I will end this with a frank declaration: I love Katie Hurst!
