The Merge between Social Media and Sightline

Starting this year, Social Media and Sightline will be sharing a room. This will take some getting used to for both groups, but it will be a good change. Both groups now meet on Tuesdays during CAM, Wednesdays before school and Fridays during lunch. These meetings consist of Benji checking in with the staff members, first only concerning Sightline, and afterwards checking in with Social Media. Once Benji is done, then the groups are off to work on their individual projects. Both groups do interact with one another while working on separate projects, to get feedback on what does or what doesn’t need improvement.

Benji believes that it will be an opportunity for these well-performing groups to come up with more interesting and unique ideas for Bethany. From the Social Media point of view, Hanna Hochstetler (‘14) commented, “I am totally for it. It is nice to be able to get more opinions and help every now and then.” Hanna’s comment is proof that Benji’s hopes are being acted out.

The Merge is a big change for both Social Media and Sightline, Rachel Shrock (‘14) offers her opinion on how drastic the change was. “The biggest change from last year is that the Sightline staff isn’t together as much, which means we aren’t as tight-knit. We used to have an entire class with each other, but now we just get together three days a week.”

Both groups seemed to show their opinion on the merge. Hanna from Social Media was eager to say that she enjoyed it and Rachel seemed to miss what last year had to offer. As it is the first year that these two groups are combined, Benji and the student-staff members will be able to experiment what works and what doesn’t work in this situation, so that next year it will be easier to transition.
