Halloween Makeup Tutorial

Halloween is this Thursday. If you’re struggling to find a last-minute costume, check out this cool pop art-style makeup. It’s pretty easy to do if you already know your way around a makeup kit, but it takes a lot of time and effort.

makeup1Start by applying your normal foundation. If you’d like, add a light blush. Then lightly brush on finishing powder; you can use any translucent powder. This will keep your foundation from rubbing off while you apply the rest of your makeup.

makeup2Next, draw on the dots. I used a dark purple eyeliner, but a red shade would be better for white skin. Start with a line of dots going across your forehead. Use that line as a guide for the rest of your dots. Make sure to cover your whole face. When you’re done, add finishing powder.

makeup3Finally, add lines to outline your facial features. Outline your jaw and hairline, your nose, your lips, and your cheekbones in black eyeliner. Draw on black eyebrows over your natural eyebrows. Line your eyes and add a line in the crease of your eyelid. For an extra touch of color, use a bright-colored eyeliner- I used green- as eyeshadow. Apply finishing powder. Pick a bright red shade of lipstick and some black mascara to finish off your look.

You can accessorize your look in many ways. Find clothing with dots to continue the theme. Print out comic-style props or a speech bubble. Show off your creativity this Halloween!
