AmazingSpiderMan2BannerThe newest installment of The Amazing Spider-Man is even better than the first. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are as charming and adorable as ever. Heartwarming moments, funny quips, and exciting action scenes come together to make a great movie that only continues to improve upon the the great movie season started by Thor: The Dark World.

That being said, was that really necessary? Was it really, truly, entirely necessary to murder Gwen Stacy? Was it, Marvel? You know, there are like fifty billion alternate universes in your franchise. Couldn’t one of them- just one- let Gwen live?

I mean, really? Killing off the heroine? That’s so cliché. You know what’s cooler than death? Coming back to live, maybe with some awesome superpower. Gwen didn’t have to die. Why are you so cruel? She had so much going for her. Her fashion sense was on point. She was going to Oxford. She and Peter had an awesomely feminist relationship dynamic where the male gives up his life for the female instead of the other way around. You hear that, Marvel? You were so close to being as feminist as you can be without passing the Bechdel Test, and you RUINED IT.

YOU ARE AWFUL, AWFUL PEOPLE THAT TOY WITH MY EMOTIONS, MARVEL. I THOUGHT SHE WAS GONNA MAKE IT UNTIL THE NOSEBLEED OF DEATH STARTED. WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO DO THIS TO ME? I WAS WHIMPERING IN MY SEAT, MARVEL. WHIMPERING. LIKE A COLD CHIHUAHUA. IT WAS PATHETIC. WHY DID YOU THINK THAT WAS OKAY? DO YOU ENJOY MY PAIN? DO YOU LIKE TO WATCH ME SUFFER?

Overall, this movie was pretty awesome. I give it 4.5/5 stars.
