The Ransom Note pt. 1

The last thing Johnny expected to find on his porch one morning was a ransom note for his hair-dresser. The day started out pretty normal. He took a shower, got breakfast, brushed his teeth, and then was going to check the mail when he saw an envelope on his welcome mat.

At first he thought nothing of it, but also noticed that there was nothing written on it, and was wondering then how it would have got onto his porch if not by the mailman. He went back inside and opened the envelope. When he read it the first time, he thought it was just a prank( because after all it was April fools) so he set it aside with the rest of the mail from that day.

When ten o’clock rolled around, he went to get a haircut that he had scheduled for today. When he got to ‘Snip n Snap’ ,the place he always got his haircut, he walked in and noticed that his hairdresser wasn’t there, which never happened. He then remembered the note from this morning and rushed home as fast as he could.

As he pulled in his driveway, he saw that the garage door was open, and he knew for a fact that he had closed it when he left. Before he went in the side door he grabbed an old baseball bat from his garage. The house seemed completely normal when he went in though, so he grabbed the note and rushed over to the police station.

When he told all of this to the police officer in front of him, the officer didn’t say anything at first, but was writing on their notepad. Johnny asked the officer,
“Is there anything we can do to figure out what is actually happening?”
To which the officer said
“I’m afraid not sir, at this point this is still only a minor case, because there is not enough evidence, however we will get in contact with the owner of ‘Snip n Snap’ to see if your hairdresser ever showed up today, and then go from there.”

Although the officer wasn’t lying about the severity of the case, he also was sure not to disclose that an anonymous person had come to the station earlier and given him 1 a large sum of money, to ignore anything to do with the missing hairdresser.

As Johnny left the Police station he knew that something was wrong with the officer he had talked to, so he decided that he would take the case into his own hands. He got in his car and sped home to see what other clues he could find that might help him figure out what happened.

The police officer waited until he was sure no one was watching what he was doing, and then he disposed of all the notes he had taken, and the evidence that Johnny had left him, and then went on break. He didn’t normally smoke on break, but he had a lot to think about at the moment so decided it wouldn’t hurt anything to have a little smoke. He went out to the back of the station where most people hung out during their break. As he was grabbing a cigar from his back pocket he heard the sound of footsteps behind him, he spun around and then felt a sharp pain in his head, and blacked out.

The boy who stood over the unconscious police officer had been given instructions to take him captive, no matter what happened in his office with the man who came in talking about the hairdresser. Although he had not been looking forward to it, he didn’t realize how much he would actually dislike it. He stood there over the officer for a minute, then realized he needed to get the job done, so dragged the officer over to the van just around the corner, and sent him to the boss.
